I recently received an invitation from Medscape to earn one free hour of Category I credit for a session on atopic dermatitis. This presentation was given by two academic dermatologists. It did not take long to determine that they are KOLs -- and one of them received > $350,000 from Industry in 2017 alone. While Medscape accredits this for CME Category I, it is not education but product promotion. This type of activity makes a mockery of continuing professional education.
